You can initiate a case note using the ALT+Q hotkey from anywhere (inside or outside a case) in Claim Works.
You can then use the Case Note button throughout the application to start writing a Case Note. This button sometimes has a drop-down menu so you can also create To-Dos and Appointments:
The most obvious place where you see the Case Note button is right below the header of cases, in the top, right-hand corner:
When you receive RLOG notifications, you can find them under the Claim File Notes sub-tab of the Claim Info tab. You can create a Case Note from the individual claim file notes to save you time from copy/pasting the information of the RLOG into a Case Note.
You can also create Case Notes from a claim contact. Click on the ellipsis [...] of the desired contact and a drop-down will give you the option to start a Case Note where the contact will be automatically attached:
Another place to create Case Notes from is on each document under the Documents tab. Highlight the document in question and click on the Case Note button in the document menu. This will start a new Case Note with the document selected already attached:
The next place to create a Case Note from is on the Correspondence tab from the individual messages:
Another place that allows you to create a case note is the overview of a case. When you are on My Cases list, if you expand the view of the case by clicking on the down arrow at the beginning of the line, the case overview will open:
If there are claim contacts on the case (Claimant, Claim Manager, Attending Physician, etc.), you can click on the phone icon and a new Case Note window will open with the contact already attached:
