[Notes] Build an LMS using the Gardiant LMS Tool

Updated over a year ago

You can use the Gardiant tool to create a Labor Market Survey - Summary (LMS) if you want more structure for your LMS creation process or if you or someone else at your firm wants to be able to reuse this LMS’s Employer Contacts later in another LMS.

Starting from the LMS screen of a case, click the [+LMS] button and select Build an LMS using the Gardiant tool.

The Gardiant LMS tool displays parts that can be included in the LMS arranged according to how they will look on the final generated LMS document.

An LMS can be thought of as having two main parts: the Summary and the Employer Contacts.

For the Summary section, the DOT Title is required because it is needed in order to save the LMS. More fields are required later when you generate the final document, but you can start an LMS and save it right away with only minimal information.

Enter a DOT Title and Survey Area then click Save. The information you entered is displayed in the list of LMS on the left-hand side of the screen. You can also choose to Save & Bill if you want to create a Case Note to track the time you are spending on the Summary section.

Next, enter an Employer Contact using one or more of the following options:

Empty

You have the options of starting from an empty screen, searching for existing Employer Contacts from another LMS that has been saved in the system and importing it into this LMS, or using an Employer Contact named in a JA for this case that was created using the JA tool.

Click + Employer Contact and choose the Empty option. Your name is filled into the Surveyor field by default.

The required fields are Survey Date, Job Title, Employer Name, City and County of the Employer, and Source. In the Physical Requirements section, you only have to fill out sections related to the worker’s injury considerations. Any sections you don’t fill out will not be displayed on the final generated document.

Save the Employer Contact, then click the X to close it and return to the Summary.

Duplicate

When there is an Employer Contact on the Summary, you have the option to view, edit, or duplicate it as a way to add another Employer Contact.

Click the ellipsis on the far right of an Employer Contact and choose Duplicate. A duplicate Employer Contact will be created and opened so you can edit and save it.

Add from Existing Employer Contacts

Click [+Employer Contact] button and choose Search existing Employer Contacts. Gardiant Works displays a search screen with Employer Contacts from the LMS contained in other cases. You can edit this screen to search in all firms within your customer account, search in the LMS bank only (or not), or narrow the search to a particular job title or employer name. Only Employer Contacts from other cases will be displayed.

Choose one and open the Preview.

Click Add to LMS to open the Employer Contact so you can edit it, select an outcome, and Save it. Click X to return to the Summary.

Create from a Gardiant Tool JA

Click [+ Employer Contacts] and choose Create from Gardiant tool/template JA.

Gardiant Works displays a list of Employer Contacts that have been entered via the JA tool for the case you currently have open.

Choose Create Employer Contact to open it. Make any changes you need, select an outcome, and then click Save. Click X to return to the Summary.

After completing the Employer Contacts section, you can import the information from the Employer Contacts into the Summary.

To start, click the Edit button at the top of the Summary page.

Click the import buttons next to each text field.

Finally, enter a Conclusion for the LMS Summary.

Click the return to top arrow and select an Outcome: Positive, Negative, or Undetermined.

Click Save.

You could also choose to add this LMS to the bank.

Click Generate Document. You will be prompted to enter any information missing from required fields.

Go to the case’s Documents tab and review your new LMS.

Note: After you generate the LMS document, further changes to the LMS in the LMS section will not affect the document in the Documents tab. You would have to click Generate Document again and get another generated LMS document. Likewise, editing a generated document in Word does not affect the LMS that was used to generate it.
