[Q&A] Closing and New plan year

Updated over a year ago

For employers that were enrolled in the closing plan year and are expected to remain enrolled in the new plan year, L&I may not reflect the re-enrollment right away in CAC.

By default, Gardiant will give a 60-day grace period for all employers that were enrolled in the closing plan year, and continue to discover new claims for up to 60 days in the new plan year. That usually gives more than enough time for the re-enrollment to show up in CAC.

Q: What if I have members that I know will not re-enroll, and I don't want claims to come in for them during the 60-day grace period?

A: You can make an account inactive in Gardiant by applying an end date to it. If you want to instruct the system to not apply the grace period for an account, give the account an end date of the last day of the closing plan year.

Q: What about brand-new enrollments (employers that were not enrolled for the closing plan year)?

A: We need to wait for L&I to reflect those new enrollments in CAC. As soon as they are reflected, Gardiant Works will provision an account for the new employer, and start checking regularly for new claims for that employer.

Q: What if an employer is already part of the Retro group but L&I has not yet updated the coverage in CAC?

A: If an employer is already part of a Retro group but L&I has not yet updated the coverage in CAC and it is past the 60-day grace period into the new plan year, you will need to manually add coverage to the employer in Gardiant to continue getting new claims created until the new plan year is added in CAC. See Add or Edit Account Coverage for Employers Knowledge Base article for instructions on how to add coverage.
